MIKKI JAY

I am a painter and illustrator based in Chicago, Illinois. My work explores nature, psychology, occult and classical symbolism, science fiction and fantasy pulp imagery, American pop culture ephemera and semi-autobiographical accounts of my experiences. I work in bold and vibrant lines, colors and vivid detail. Furthermore, my work explores the use of art as a therapeutic tool for healing and growth, lending itself to my training in art therapy and in the mental health and psychology fields. I graduated with a Masters' Degree in Art Therapy and Counseling in 2022, and have worked for several years with a variety of populations, including at a therapeutic day school, substance use treatment facility, eating disorder program, and community mental health organizations with youth and adults.
